In the marquee college basketball matchup of the day, the Kentucky Wildcats (No. 4) survived a 2nd half surge from the UNC Tar Heels (No. 11) to improve to 8-0 for the first time since the 1992-93 season. Super-freshman John Wall survived an encounter with dehydration and an IV drip to finish with 16 points and 7 dimes as well as the game-clinching free throws in the end. The loss drops the defending champion Tar Heels to 7-2 on the season.
