Nets Fall to 0-18

Photobucket

Last night the New Jersey Nets have set an NBA record starting an NBA season with 18 straight losses with a loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavericks opened up a 27 point lead thanks to a 49 point second quarter and the Nets were never able to recover. Chris Douglas-Roberts led the Nets with 24 points but it was not enough to take down Dirk and the Mavs. The Nets have already fired their coach Lawrence Frank and Kiki Vandeweghe is scheduled to take over the bench in the next game. It's not all bad for the Nets though, they have good young pieces in Devin Harris and Brook Lopez and this coming offseason will have millions to spend on arguably the best free agent class in recent memory. But getting through these next 64 games will be a struggle to say the least.

The worst record in NBA history is held by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers who finished the season with a 9-73 record. Those Sixers lost their first 15 games of the season and also had a 20 game losing streak in the middle of the season. Let's see if these Nets can challenge that record of futility.
