Everything was going right for the Lakers this season. They were off to a 17-3 defending their NBA championship, Pau Gasol was back healthy and Ron Artest was behaving. It was all peachy until Kobe Bryant injured a finger on his shooting hand while reaching for a pass in the first quarter. At halftime a splint was put on the finger and he returned to score 20 points en route to an easy 104-92 win against former Lakers assistant coach Kurt Rambis and his Minnesota Timberwolves. The win was the Lakers 11th in a row. Pau Gasol was the real star of the night with 17 points and 20 boards along with 7 dimes. Al Jefferson had 24 and 13 for the T'Wolves and Kevin Love added a career-high 19 boards as well. It remains to be seen what effect this injury will have on the team, but be aware that the rest of the Western Conference is salivating.
