Monday Night Football Preview

In Week 4, we thought we would see an epic showdown between Donovan McNabb coming home against his former team and new starting QB Michael Vick. All the hype surrounding the game and Donovan's return quickly became irrelevant when Vick went down in the first half with a sternum injury that eventually sidelined him for the next 3 games. Kevin Kolb came in and was one Jason Avant dropped touchdown away from actually winning the game in the final seconds (Video after the jump). This week, on Monday Night Football, we will (hopefully) get to see that game come to fruition. Only this week, it's the Eagles who seem to be riding high and the Redskins, particularly McNabb, who are clouded with uncertainty.

Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself

Everyone does it. When the NFL schedule gets released, every fan grabs his or her team's schedule, plays analyst and starts penciling in wins and losses. I think all Eagles fans put down an L against the Colts for their Week 9 matchup. Between memories of Peyton Manning torching the Eagles every time he's faced them and the uncertainty of the true ability of supposed starter Kevin Kolb, putting an L next to this matchup was an understandable prediction. Then the season unfolded and the reins of the offense were handed over to Michael Vick.

Why the "New" NFL Is Wrong

The most talked about play from yesterday was the terrifying play in the Eagles/Colts game that ended with Austin Collie getting carted off the field after lying motionless on the ground for what seemed like forever. The play has stirred some controversy in the last 24 hours and will probably result in a fine for Eagles safety Kurt Coleman. But is a fine warranted? Was the 15-yard Unnecessary Roughness penalty warranted? Is the league so scared that they flag anything that looks remotely violent? Yes and that is what's killing the National Football League right now. Video after the jump.

Not So Small Andy Reid

Video from the game yesterday featuring 13 year-old "Andrew" Reid. WOW.

Groundhog Day on Halloween

With 1:50 left in the game against Detroit yesterday and down only six points, Mike Shanahan benched Donovan McNabb for...Rex Grossman? Yes you read that correctly. While we here in Philadelphia are familiar with the sight of McNabb on the sideline with his hands on his hips looking to the sky for answers, this still comes as a shock to anyone who even remotely follows football and will inevitably cause some commotion in the Washington locker room.

NFL Week 8 Sunday Wrap Up

Photobucket

This was a great week to show the parity in the NFL this season. We saw teams that we expected so much of (Dallas and Minnesota), fall even farther behind in their division, as well as see some surprise teams (Oakland, KC, St. Louis) continue to build on their solid starts.

Bye Weeks: Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, NY Giants, Baltimore.

Another Classic Randy Moss Press Conference

Above is video from Randy Moss' postgame press conference that featured a heartfelt farewell to all his Patriots comrades, shots at his coach's decisions and his reaction to getting fined $25,000 from the NFL this week for not talking to reporters. Randy clearly misses New England...and with the way things have unfolded this season for the Vikings, who can blame him. Click HERE for a complete transcript from the press conference. Add it to the archives of great Moss moments behind the podium.
