Flyers Lose in OT in Winter Classic

In the Winter Classic at Fenway Park, the Flyers lost to the Bruins 2-1 in Overtime. Marco Sturm scored his 14th goal of the season in OT to propel the Bruins to victory in the annual outdoor game. Danny Syvret scored his only goal of the season and the Flyers only goal of the game today. The loss is particularly demoralizing as the Flyers led most of the game until former Flyer Mark Recchi tied the game in the 3rd period. The loss drops the Flyers to 19-18-3 on the season.

Addressing the Flyers Rumors

After posting the blog entry about a potential rift in the Flyers locker room regarding two players and one wife, we have found out that those are more than likely not true. According to a Deadspin article, these types of stories come out once in a while. Flyers Locker Room Split

There's a rumor going around in Flyers land that Jeff Carter had an affair with Scott Hartnell's wife and the locker room is split over it. We'll see how this story develops.

Flyers Fire Stevens

Comcast Sportsnet is reporting that the Philadelphia Flyers have fired head coach John Stevens. Stevens took over when Ken Hitchcock was fired 10 games into the 2006-07 season. The next year the Flyers won 42 games and Stevens was named Coach of the Year by The Hockey News. The Flyers are currently 13-11-1 and were shut out last night against the Vancouver Canucks.
