The Andy Reid Era: One Fan's Perspective

According to multiple reports, Andy Reid will be fired as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. It will be the end of a 14-year marriage between Reid and the Eagles, culminating in a press conference on Monday. Reid finished his tenure as the most decorated coach in Eagles history, with a record of 130-93-1 in the regular season, 10-9 postseason record, 5 trips to the NFC Championship game and a loss in his lone Super Bowl appearance in 2004. Reid came in as a relative unknown, the former quarterbacks coach for Brett Favre in Green Bay, and quickly turned the Eagles into a contender in the NFC. The league's longest tenured head coach will be elsewhere in 2013, but let's take a second to look back at the Reid era and the many ups, downs and head-scratching moments that came along with it.

A New Era in Philadelphia

This was the time so many people in Philadelphia were waiting for. They have been clamoring for this move for weeks and they rose to their feet as the next chapter in Eagles football was beginning. Unfortunately, some things are just not as good as you envision them and the start of the Nick Foles era certainly didn't live up to the hype in the early stages.

20 years after the Dream Team dominated the globe, countries around the world are preparing their nation's best for the 2012 Olympics in London. The United States is once again being led by superstars such as Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Chris Paul. But, before we dive into this year’s team, let’s go back to 1992 and review the previous five teams that represented this nation.

Steve Nash Goes Hollywood

It was announced Wednesday night, as most of us were crushing hot dogs, watching Independence Day and doing other American things on the birthday of our nation, that the Lakers acquired Steve Nash for a pair of future first and second round draft picks. The 38-year old Nash, will join Kobe and Co. in LA for one last shot at a championship that remains the only thing missing from Nash's Hall of Fame resume. The two-time MVP, who has long been a thorn in the side of Lakers fans, is not only another box-office draw in a city full of them, but another piece to the puzzle for a team floating in Western Conference mediocrity the last two years. The synergy between Kobe and Nash will be interesting to watch, as Kobe may have to sit back and let Nash set other teammates up, something Kobe certainly is not accustomed to.

Brandon Roy and the Ghosts of Trailblazers Past

Don't call it a comeback. It has been reported recently that Brandon Roy is ready to return to the league he retired from not even a year ago. After being amnestied by the Blazers last season, he is a free agent and has his share of teams that are in the process of making him offers. But with all of Brandon's knee issues over the years and the lingering curse that is being a star player for the Blazers remain obstacles that Roy needs to overcome. It's well documented that he isn't the first big name former Trailblazer that's been held back by injuries. In the words of Michelangelo (the Ninja Turtle, not the artist), "a moment to reflect."

Now that we've all had a few days to digest the tornado that is LeBron James and the Miami Heat's championship victory last week over the Oklahoma City Thunder, there's so many things we need to talk about.

Classic NBA Finals Game 4: 1993

With tonight being a pivotal Game 4 of this year's NBA Finals, I decided to take a look back at a classic heavyweight bout that eerily mirrors this year's Heat/Thunder matchup. Everyone knows that I am a fan of basketball in the 90's. The players, the uniforms, the sneakers, the rivalries...everything. None of this was better exemplified than in the 1993 NBA Finals when the Suns faced the defending champion Chicago Bulls. The Barkley/Jordan matchup easily draws comparisons to Lebron/Durant. Each matchup featured a polarizing MVP against a fan-favorite scoring champion and both were arguably the two best players in the league in their respective years. Needless to say, it made for some great theater and the '93 Finals did not disappoint.

Remembering a Fantasy Legend: LT

It was announced Sunday that Ladainian Tomlinson, one of the NFL's all time great running backs and fantasy football god, will sign a one day contract with the San Diego Chargers and formally announce his retirement. Let's take a moment to remember the legend that is this generation's "LT."

Dream Team Documentary

NBA TV's Dream Team documentary premiered tonight and is a must-see for any basketball fan, particularly of that era. The doc gives great insight into the greatest team ever assembled and every player is interviewed. Awesome work. The entire documentary after the jump.

Dwyane Wade Fading Into The Background

Lost in all this Kevin Durant vs. LeBron James battle of the century hoopla is the fact that someone is notably absent from the playoff party this year. That man is the former NBA Finals MVP and one of the best players we have in the league today, Dwyane Wade. With the exception of a few outbursts against the Pacers and Celtics, Wade has been in the background of the LeBron James MVP tour that has traveled throughout the league this year. Admittedly, I've never been the biggest LeBron fan, but there is no denying his place in the league and the fact that he is indeed the best player on a front-loaded Heat roster. After all, Wade himself said that LeBron was the best player in the game. However, if the King wants to capture his long eluded first ring, he will need a bigger contribution from his partner in crime.
